Area: Beit Dajan Village- Jaffa
This thobe is named after Al-Na’ani village in Al Ramla. It has been said that a girl from that village got married in Beit Dajan and brought her dress with her, which was admired by Beit Dajan women only to become their favorite thobe.
This thobe is made of off-white polyester and cotton fabric and is distinguished for the rich embroidery using silk threads mainly in red with some other colors as well. It is embroidered on the sides of the thobe “Al-Banayeq”, the chest panel, the lower back hem called “Al-Shinyar” as well as the long wide sleeves called “Al-Radan”.
What distinguishes this thobe too is the use of various types of stitches and fabric in the making of it. We can see the maroon velvet fabric as the base for the embroidery which is done using thick silk threads (reed) and “Al-Tahriri” thread in a stitch also called “Al-Tahriri” named after the thread.
These velvet-base embroidery patches are visible at the center of the thobe, in addition to the sleeves and upper back.
